anti-CD36 FITC Conjugate

Human CD36 is a major platelet glycoprotein also found on monocytes, macrophages and some endothelial cells.  CD36 may play a role in cell adhesion as a receptor for thrombospondin.  CD36 is a receptor for adhesion of malaria infected erythrocytes (2).  CD36 is also proported to have a role in phagocytosis (4).

Isotype: Murine IgM

Immunogen: Human tonsil cells /PBM

Specificity: Antibody SMO recognizes the CD36 molecule of 88 kd (1, 3). Its epitope has been mapped to amino acids 155-183 (5).  Antibody SMO can block phagoctosis of Group A Streptococcus by U-937 cells (6).
