EV isolation to assess cognitive impairment in Parkinsons disease

Plasma derived neuronal enriched extracellular vesicles(EVs) were evaluated for content of α-synuclein and phosphorylated tau181. Ratio of α-synuclein to phosphorylated tau181 in these samples was signicantly higher for cognitively impaired Parkinson’s patients compared to cognitively normal Parkinson’s patients. Analysis of plasma EVs may be useful for prognosis of Parkinson’s disease.
