Blockade of CD274(PD-L1, B7-H1) restores T cell function to clear Herpes Simplex 1 virus from infected mouse cornea in vivo

Interfering with the CD279(PD-1) – CD274(PD-L1) axis has shown great promise in restoring anti-cancer T cell function.  This Pittsburgh research group has used a similar approach in a mouse HSV-1 model to improve T cell mediated viral clearance from the immunologically sequestered cornea.
